Dupur Mitra: Do you think poetry play role in your society? If yes how and if not why?
Franklin Abbott: Poets are prophets. We predict and presage the future.

Dupur Mitra: Who are your major influences as a poet?
Franklin Abbott: The King James version of the Bible was the first poetry I ever heard.  I love Walt Whitman, William Blake, Adrienne Rich, Langston Hughes, James Broughton, Judy Grahn, and of course, Rumi, Lalla, Lorca and Tagore.

Dupur Mitra: What does being a poet mean to you?
Franklin Abbott: Dreams turn into language, language turns into dreams.

Dupur Mitra: Who are your major influences as a poet?
Franklin Abbott: The sounds of nature, right now tree frogs are singing in my back garden and Emily Dickinson.

Dupur Mitra: What does being a poet mean to you?
Franklin Abbott: Truth comes through me.

Dupur Mitra: What is poetry?
Franklin Abbott: Enchantment/incantation.

Dupur Mitra: what are your observations about trending of world poetry?
Franklin Abbott: We are always looking for a universal language for the soul.

Dupur Mitra:  Is poetry movement can improve the poetry? if yes how, if not why?
Franklin Abbott: We can always dig deeper, search wider, aspire to greater heights.

Dupur Mitra: What is your opinion about today’s world poetry movement?
Franklin Abbott: I don’t experience modern poetry as a single movement.  I think poets are having an interesting conversation on the Internet. I think that conversation is changing of poetry.

Dupur Mitra: How would you describe the contemporary poetry?
Franklin Abbott: Too academic, thus too anemic.

Dupur Mitra: When did you start writing?
Franklin Abbott: In college😉

Dupur Mitra: Why do you write poetry?
Franklin Abbott: Because my life depends upon it.

Dupur Mitra: What is your opinion about today’s world poetry movement?
Franklin Abbott: Art, no matter what form it takes, is the most radical expression of our shared humanity.
